Weβre excited to collaborate with Open White Gallery for the upcoming exhibition. From January 10-31, we present two up-and-coming Danish artists at BcmA, both winners of the JCE Biennale Grand Prize for young European contemporary art:
β
πΉππππ ππππ π΄ ππππππππ discusses (self-)destruction of humankind and nature, challenging the perceptions of what occurs naturally and what is forced/human-made. The presented works take starting points in opposing mediums (the living body vs. the technical machine), yet they are united in their discussion of decay. Together, the works blur the lines between sensation, tragedy and everyday life.
πΉππππ ππππ is a series of three sculptures by Rasmus SΓΈndergaard Johannsen. Each sculpture consists of a media player, whose main function was destroyed by dropping an enlarged indispensable detail of its own machinery onto it.
π΄ ππππππππ is a 10-minute video installation by Liesel Burisch. It documents a heavily breathing, dying elephant in Samburu, Kenya. Using close-up shots, Burisch captures the young elephantβs last moments before the impending death.

Rasmus SΓΈndergaard Johannsen is a Danish conceptual artist and sculptor, who in his practice, often follows self-defined schemes that serve and explore dysfunctional and cyclical purposes. He carefully creates scenarios that are technically planned in detail – only to leave the final act, that will complete the work, up to nature or chance. www.rasmusjohannsen.com
LIESEL BURISCH is a German-Danish artist and film-maker. She cleverly captures cultural phenomenon of everyday life, subtly highlighting underlying absurdities. In her work, she creates a sphere that is neither neutral, nor manipulative, but facilitates an internal (and external) debate for the viewer. www.lieselburisch.com
