BcmA invites you to our upcoming installation exhibition by artist Melissa Ortega. Join us for the Vernissage, this upcoming Thursday 25.10. at 19h.
As far as I’m concerned is based on an inner look; an intimate take on her emotional response to her own experiences. She approaches the viewer through a reflection on the complexity of what it means to be alive: implication | reaction | roots | frustration | cynicism | hope.In her narrative, she turns on repetition and series as a way to reaffirm herself, claiming to the world “this is who I am”. Sharing her story through printed works and sewn objects. With this exhibition Melissa invites us to get to know her on a deeper, more vulnerable level.
Special music feature at the Vernissage by amazing Manuela Garcia Aldana illustrator, tattoo artist, DJ

Melissa Ortega is a Berlin-based artist who creates portraits and images in different formats, prints and installations. She experiments with linoleum, sewing, video, serigraphy, drawing, photography and woodblock printing. Her thematic approach lends to an internal-view and self-inspection. Guided by her intuition and background, she turns on recurrent employment of her image, using her own sense of shame to force herself to come through in public. That’s why in Melissa’s work, the individual and the total, the intimate and the open are primarily interwoven.
