“Uncertainty and its beauty is integral to Dorothea Nold’s work.”

Faith is a fundamental belief that every artist harbors to move towards new artistic horizons. The exchange between this feeling of affirmation, confidence, and uncertainty are the multipliers of our senses in a society where everyone strives only for the controllable. Those who relinquish control are often branded with negative opinions without deep analysis and knowledge, yet those who have the courage to trust in the unknown are the heroes of our time as they renounce the unhealthy spiral of domination. If we look in detail at the figure of the Kontrolleti – who is dedicated to monitoring everything – we reveal that such control is not only an illusion but a rejection of the natural world which favors unexpected connections and transmutations.

Dorothea Nolde’s “Hope Step the Lava Flow” solo exhibition reveals a profound invitation to face the unknown. It is a call not only to accept the unpredictable but to embrace it as a space for new discoveries and transformative possibilities for our benefit.
