Traces of the White Rabbit
What do tracks tell us? Who wants to follow the trail, why and where? Tracks contain something inexplicable. Something intangible. The exhibition “Traces of the White Rabbit” lays a trail in seemingly or inconspicuously alien terrain. Between abstraction and narration, a story unfolds like Alice in Wonderland, which tells of a beginning without an end. Glass sculptures, beguiling plants, mammoth feet and large chess pieces lead the viewer to the white rabbit. The exhibited positions show many things that initially appear beautiful and blend in with their surroundings, but on closer inspection are resistant and irritating: what does it mean to take a wrong turn on the chessboard pattern? The viewer remains on the trail of the shy animal, which has long since disappeared from view and has perhaps already become a mere phantasm – or is in the immediate vicinity in a different way than expected. In this way, we invite visitors to the exhibition to question their own reality, which we experience here in very different and subjective ways.
