The body of work invites viewers on a visual journey, an experience that can both fascinate and challenge. 

 

Collectively, the artworks convey futuristic dimensions that resonate with pulsating beats. This aesthetic is enhanced by the use of abstract forms, some neon colors, digital elements, and seemingly copy-paste patterns that not only engage the senses but also challenge us as viewers to redefine subjective conditions in experiencing art and explore the connection between aesthetic sensations and personal interpretations. Each piece is a testament to the individual perspective of the artists, capturing the zeitgeist of today’s society and questioning the boundaries between reality and virtuality.

 

Meanwhile, social media plays a central role in the perception of art, prompting the artists to reflect on the everyday in their works and utilize the inspiration gained to engage with identity, aesthetics, and the complexities of our modern world in their respective visual languages. Whether this is appealing or provocative is not decisive; rather, the exhibition seeks to invite viewers on a journey to question and expand their own definitions of art. The boundaries between reality and fantasy can blur, just as they can between algorithmically shaped and personally developed taste. Thus, the exhibited works, like personal taste, require the adoption of active responsibility and attention to be understood.

 

Tripping is an invitation to embark on a journey of discovery and reflection.

 

Tripping is an exhibition curated by Tha House (Madrid) for BCMA during this years Berlin Art Week. Tripping presents five (inter)national artists whose abstract works are influenced by both their urban and digital environments.
